Babies on the ground, sloths on roads, inside homes or on power lines: learn how to recognize when a sloth needs help and what steps to follow.

The festival is held in Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Costa Rica. Activities on October 15 and 16 will take place at Casa de la Cultura. The main festival on October 17 will be held at the Puerto Viejo basketball court.

Yes. Festival admission, talks and scheduled community activities are free and open to the public.

Advance registration is only required for the talks and activities taking place on Thursday and Friday, as spaces are limited. No registration is required for the main festival on Saturday.

Yes! The Kukula Kids’ Club will feature interactive games, environmental workshops, painting, face painting, music and more. Most children’s workshops are recommended for ages 8 and older.

For outdoor activities, bring water, sun protection and comfortable footwear. If you are joining the beach cleanup, please bring closed-toe shoes and gloves.

The International Sloth Festival is part of SloCo’s Slothtober celebrations. It takes place in the days leading up to International Sloth Day on October 20, bringing the community together to celebrate sloths and learn how we can help protect them.
