A New Chapter for Debbie | August 2026
Debbie has entered a new chapter, and after raising Kiwi, she is now living independently once again.
Young sloths typically spend around their first 12 months with their mothers, learning the essential skills they need to survive and thrive in the wild. During this time, they gradually become more confident and capable before eventually setting out on their own.

In Debbie's case, Kiwi spent around seven months by her mother's side, making this an important milestone as she begins to grow more independent. Kiwi will now be exploring independently, but we expect them to be not too far from mum. Our plan is to eventually collar Kiwi so we can learn more about her journey to independence!
For Debbie, her time as a mother has now come to an end, and she can return to life as a solo sloth. It's a natural milestone in her journey, and we're looking forward to following Debbie as she settles into this next stage of her life.
