Debbie Gives Us a Scare | October 2025

After replacing Debbie’s collar, she gave us quite a scare by disappearing for several days, even though her signal remained strong. The transmitter kept pinging from the same area, which made us suspect something might have happened, yet the mortality signal never activated.

José grew concerned and decided to investigate, bringing Diego along after a Census Day (Diego’s sharp eyes for spotting sloths always help!).

That day, the signal suddenly shifted to the other side of the road, an area Debbie had explored before. Within just five minutes, they found her safe and sound, lounging in her favorite branches with her new collar still on.

Since then, she’s been back to her usual routine, resting in her familiar trees and showing no signs of stress.

Thank you so much for adopting Deborah and being part of her journey with us. Your support helps us keep following her story, learning more about wild sloths, and protecting their rainforest homes. We can’t wait to share what she’s up to in the next update!
