September 2025
It’s time for your latest VIP update, and while our familiar sloths in the Caribbean kept us busy with collar changes and jungle hide-and-seek, this month brought something extra exciting.
We’ve officially begun monitoring sloths in a brand-new location: the Osa Peninsula!
This remote, primary forest on Costa Rica’s South Pacific coast is one of the most biodiverse places on Earth, and now, home to the newest members of the Urban Sloth Project family. We’ve already placed GPS collars on two sloths, and the data coming in is helping us understand how wild sloths move through dense, untouched rainforest. It’s a big step for our research, and we’re excited to see what we uncover next.
And of course, our Caribbean sloths had stories to share too. Deborah gave us a hard-earned re-collaring moment (finally!), Luiza changed scenery, and Kristen said her quiet goodbye. You can catch up on all the latest in this month’s full field update:
Once again, thank you for being part of our VIP community. Your support makes every step of this work possible: from tracking sloths in the treetops to expanding into entirely new regions. We’re so glad you’re on this journey with us.
All the best from the jungle,
