Promising news! | June 2026

At long last, we have some encouraging news to share about Tango.

After several months of rehabilitation, Tango is now entering the final stages of his treatment at the rescue centre. His recovery has progressed steadily, and the veterinary team is pleased with how far he has come since arriving with severe injuries earlier this year.

The next step will be a final health assessment to ensure that all of his wounds have healed properly and that he is physically fit to survive independently in the wild. If everything goes according to plan, the team will then be able to begin arranging a suitable date for his release.

While we are all eager to see Tango back where he belongs, returning a rescued sloth to the wild is never a decision that is rushed. Every animal must be carefully assessed to ensure it has regained the strength, mobility, and condition needed to navigate the canopy, find food, and avoid predators without human assistance. Waiting a little longer now gives Tango the very best chance of a successful return to the forest.

It has been a long journey since the day he was rescued, and we know many of you have been following his story every step of the way. We are incredibly grateful for your patience and continued support throughout his rehabilitation.

With a little luck, we hope the next update will bring the news we've all been waiting for: that Tango has been given the all-clear and is ready to return to the canopy.
